Miguel Eligon – Technical Trainer

Miguel Eligon is currently a National B Licence candidate. He works closely with Vikram to deliver all of our academy technical training. Miguel also takes a lead role as Head coach for 3-4 teams with Chinooks. Miguel hails from Trinidad and Tobago. In training with the Canadian Olympic Development Program in Hamilton Ontario, his skill level and passion for the game was rewarded by multiple offers for full scholarships to the United States. As a U.S. NAIA Collegiate Soccer student athlete he took full advantage of the opportunity in academia. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Along with his MFDA Mutual Funds Licence and Canadian Securities Course Accreditation he continues to pursue other designations in Investment Management. After College, he played in the USISL Premier Leauge which later became the PDL in the U.S. Miguel dutifully volunteers his time. He loves the opportunity to facilitate the growth of players as a soccer athlete, and encourages them to never stop learning to achieve their best. Miguel brings strong technical skills, a high level playing background, a strong desire to develop players at Chinooks, and an understanding of what it takes to play at the highest levels of the game.

Vikram Virk – Technical Director

Vikram has been with the Chinook Soccer Club for many years both as a player and now as a staff coach. He has been involved as an Academy coach since he graduated from the Chinook U­18 program which was run by Thomas Niendorf in 2012. As a player, Vikram has experienced first hand training at the highest level in the city and was part of the successful Chinook United 94 group that placed 5th at the National Championships at U18. Vikram is committed, has a pure passion for the game and a desire to keep learning and progressing as a coach. He has worked with all age groups and strives to make coaching a career path in the future. He is a recent graduate from the University of Calgary in the Faculty of Kinesiology majoring in Mind Sciences. He values all that he has learned from his mentors Thomas Niendorf and Nick Daniel; and is looking forward to carrying on working with them and the club.

Luigi Caria – Goalkeeper Trainer

Luigi has been playing as a goalkeeper in Calgary, Alberta for 18 years. Throughout his soccer career, Luigi has won multiple provincial championships in both youth and men’s leagues and has been recognized for his achievements in the Calgary Herald. When he was only 17 years old he travelled to England to further his playing career, where he gained a wealth of knowledge. Upon his return to Canada, he played first string goalie for his high school soccer team, the St. Mary’s Saints, and Foothills FC. At the same time he began his coaching career with the high school women’s soccer team. While playing for Foothills FC, he and his team won 3rd place in Nationals. Shortly thereafter, he was given a full ride scholarship to Mount Royal College and ultimately won 4th place in intercollegiate Nationals. Luigi’s competitive experience brings a wealth of knowledge and skills that he is eager to teach others. He  believes that the most important part of the game takes place between your ears and works to inspire confidence in the mental aspect of the game, while developing a strong foundation of physical skills.
